In case of Delhi, landscape structure remains a desirable but elusive objective. Landscape structure in context of urban space suggests the creation of spatial framework based on a range of considerations, but essentially imcorporating , in a meaningful way, the various kinds of public open spaces available in the city.
This study dealt with as assessment of Historical, cultural and environment value identified with an urban road , Baba Kharag Singh Marg.
Baba Kharag Singh Marg was one of the major connections in the planning of New Delhi as an integral part of the radial systems of roads from the inner circle of Cannaught Place. This road has seen many changes because of State Emporia, Increased activity associated with religious structures such as Gurudwara bangla Sahib and Hanuman Mandir, Cinema Halls & intensive commercial development, and residential activity. In the last thirty years, many proposals for the development of this area have been put forth and some have been partially implemented.
A thourough assessment of impact of present and future development trends pertaining to significant issues related to open space development, was done. Finally, for a delineated area a landscape scheme was generated keeping in mind the public domain so that the spatial quality is balanced and is neither cluttered, nor boring and fair degree of street comfort is achieved.
